NASA RESAC Live Fuel Moisture Sampling and Site Mapping Project;

Santa Monica Mountains, California State University Long Beach Foundation (CSULB)

Research Associate I      3/2000 - present

  • Student Intern Director for the Regional Earth Science Application Center's Live Fuel Moisture Vegetation Sampling and Site Mapping Project. Manage undergraduate intern activities including GIS lab work and vegetation sampling teams.

  • Collected specified vegetation samples from surveyed study area. Identified, separated and recorded the collected samples. Used drying ovens and scales.

  • Organized and lead workshops for the CSULB RESAC. Workshops included a Garmin GPS training, Sampling Strategies and Outdoor Safety, 'Using ENVI for AVIRIS Geometric Registration', and 'Using GIS to Select Suitable Sampling Sites'.

  • Geometric registration of AVIRIS (Airborne Visible-Infrared Imaging Spectrometer) images using ENVI (Environment for Visualizing Images) software.

  • Created geographic digital database and map products for several contracts. Map products rendered using GIS and remotely sensed data.

  • Identified, registered and cared for displaced and injured wildlife. Engaged in rehabilitation efforts including feeding and handling of wildlife in an appropriate manner, for the purpose of wildlife reintroduction to the wild.
