David O'Grady is a Ph.D. candidate in the Cinema and Media Studies program at UCLA. He has written about visual media for various publications, and his scholarly work reflects interests in contemporary cinema, documentary, and new media forms. His most recent articles include various entries in the Encyclopedia of Video Games: The Culture, Technology, and Art of Gaming (2012); a chapter on cutscenes and time in video games in The Game Culture Reader (2013); and an essay on Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou for the journal New Review of Film and Television Studies (March 2012). David also has served as a section editor of Mediascape, UCLA's online film and media journal, and as assistant editor of Aztlán: A Journal of Chicano Studies. His dissertation examines the concept of video game interactivity and the implications of interface controller design and use on the experience of play.
