FALL 2013 EVENTSGabe Bartalos: Abhorrence and Obsession Saturday September 7, 6:00-8:00pm University Art Museum Opening of a major exhibition of works by special effects artist and horror film director Gabe Bartalos. The exhibition includes a number of large scale works Bartalos produced for Matthew Barney's Cremaster series and set designs from a range of cult horror films designed by Bartalos including Brain Damage and Skinned Deep. Exhibit runs through December 8. Gabe Bartalos in Conversation with Matthew Barney Saturday September 7, 8:00pm Carpenter Center Tickets: $15 general admission Special effects master Gabe Bartalos sits down for a rare in-person conversation with legendary artist and film director Matthew Barney. The two artists will share their insights on special effects in such films as the Cremaster Cycle (1995-2002), giving voice to their thoughts, processes, and motivations. 1912-2013: 101 Years of Michelangelo Antonioni Saturday September 28, 9:30am-5:00pm Anatol Center This one-day conference explores the work of one of the most important directors of modern cinema. Film scholars Murray Pomerance, Thomas Harrison, Mary Ann M. Carolan, Fulvio Orsitto, and Fletcher Beasley will discuss the many facets of Antonioni's creative output, from his use of color to his choice of music. The conference will conclude with a screening of the recently restored La notte (1961). Presented in collaboration with the George L. Graziadio Center for Italian Studies.   SPRING 2013 EVENTS
