Quicksteps – Continuing CSULB Students

This information is intended to provide you with a basic roadmap to successfully navigate through Summer Sessions.

1. Enrollment Appointments

Continuing students eligible to enroll in Summer classes will receive email notification of their registration access date and time in early March. Access is based, as in other terms, on class level and

  • Be enrolled in a state supported, degree, credential, or credit certificate program or on approved leave the preceding Spring semester.
  • If you will not complete your degree program in the preceding Spring semester. If you filed for Spring graduation, but know you will not complete your program, you must move your graduation date forward at Enrollment Services (BH-101).
  • Be in good academic standing (not academically disqualified.)

2. Select your Classes

Check out our schedule of classes where you can view offerings by Academic Subject, by College, or by General Education Category updated nightly including seat availability. The course you really need to graduate on time might just be offered!

3. Register for Classes

Self Service Registration dates are:

  • Full Summer Session (SSD, 1): March 11 - May 27, 2013
    Self Service Registration and Adjustments
  • Session I (S1S, 6W1): March 11 - May 27, 2013
    Self Service Registration and Adjustments
  • Session III (S3S, 6W3): March 11 - July 7, 2013
    Self Service Registration and Adjustments

In Person Registration using the CCPE Summer Registration Form (available here on May 28).

Begins and ends on the following dates:

  • Full Summer Session (SSD, 1): May 28 - June 10, 2013
    In Person Registration and Adjustments
  • Session I (S1S, 6W1): May 28 - June 10, 2013
    In Person Registration and Adjustments
  • Session III (S3S, 6W3): July 08 - 19, 2013
    In Person Registration and Adjustments

4. Understanding your Fees and Aid

To find out how much, when and how to pay your summer fees, go to Fees and Finances – Basics.

Summer Session courses will be administered through the College of Continuing and Professional Education. Note that CCPE courses have a different fee structure than regular session courses, please refer to the Summer Fees and Finance information. For those students in Special Summer State-Support Programs (Ed. D. and MBA), please refer to the Tuition Fees information specifically for those programs.

Financial aid may be available to continuing CSULB students to assist with summer sessions costs. For the available aid programs, general eligibility requirements and application process Financial Aid.

5. Manage your Class Schedule and Account

It is very important that you check your class schedule regularly at MyCSULB noting class cancellations, room changes, whether or not you are moved from the waitlist, and especially when you make changes to your classes. Check your account regularly and pay any fees resulting from changes in your schedule promptly.

Remember to update your preferred email address at MyCSULB since the University uses email for official university notifications. You are responsible for ensuring your email address is accurate and up-to-date and for reading your email regularly. Failure to do so may result in missing important information!
