New! Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Standards for the Receipt of Financial Aid

Effective July 1, 2011, the U.S. Department of Education revised its policies regarding Satisfactory Academic Progress for federal student aid recipients. CSU Long Beach has revised its SAP Standards in order to bring the university into full compliance with the new federal regulations.

The SAP Standards affect any student that has, or will apply, for federal student aid.

Beginning with the Fall 2011 semester, SAP will now be evaluated at the end of each term (Fall, Spring, Summer), once final grades have posted. The SAP evaluation will now monitor a student’s overall (or cumulative) progress with regards to her/his GPA, Pace (or progress towards a degree), and Maximum Time Frame. A student must maintain progress in all three standards in order to remain eligible to receive financial aid.
