Post Concert Celebration!

Please join us in celebration of our new and graduating Scholarship Students after the CSULB Dance in Concert show on April 28 in the Martha B. Knoebel Dance Theater Green Room.  We request a donation of $20 for the reception featuring homemade desserts and beverages, but we will accept any donation you can give.  All proceeds to go supporting Dance Scholarships, and are tax-deductible.

From the Interim Chair

It’s hard to believe that there are only three weeks of instruction left in the Spring 2012 semester!  We have accomplished so much amazing work in our Department this semester, yet we still have so much to look forward to before Commencement on May 25.  To begin, of course, the spring CSULB Dance in Concert is April 25-28 featuring choreography by our faculty choreographers and an excerpt of Jiri Kylian’s Falling Angels.  The following week, we offer Dance Showcase, a free program of work by our “non-major” and world dance classes that always performs to a standing-room only audience.  On May 8 at 6 pm in the Martha B. Knoebel Dance Theater, we present our inaugural Senior Dance Colloquium, an evening of presentations by the students of the Senior Seminar, DANC 498 class.  On May 10, Robert Moses, the Artistic Director of Robert Moses’ KIN Dance Company, will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the CSULB Alumni Association at an invitation-only event in downtown Long Beach.  On the last day of instruction, May 11, our students will enjoy one last master class for the semester from the dancers of Ballet Memphis, followed by our annual Last Chance to Dance, one last opportunity for dance majors to share their work with their friends and professors.  There’s never a dull moment in the Dance Center—we hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!
