Dori Levy, Instructor

Dori Levy - AA in Theatre from Long Beach City College, BA in Dance from CSULB, MA in Dance/Movement Therapy from UCLA, MA in Psychology from U. S. International University.  Registered Dance/Movement Therapist by the American Dance Therapy Association.  Certified in Labanotation by the Dance Notation Bureau, Inc. from the Center for Movement Research and Analysis.  Biographized in Who's Who in the West and in Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals.  Author of Movement Awareness Program for Arthritis Patients  and Rehearsal/Performance Protocol.
            Currently teaches Nonverbal Communication and Viewing Dance at CSULB.  Teaches in the “Study Abroad” program in Europe, each summer, presenting nonverbal communication to students from a multi-cultural perspective.  Has worked as a Dance/Movement Therapist since 1987.  Primary researcher in a pilot study of the effects of dance/movement therapy in the battered woman syndrome as a Masters project at UCLA.  Chaired the CSULB President's Commission on the Status of Women, 2000-2001.  Chaired the CSULB Women's Research Colloquium, 1998-1999.  Has served on Academic Senate.  Is currently an Executive Board member of the California Faculty Association, serving as a faculty union representative for the College of the Arts.  Presently  is a “Safe Zone” ally for the LGBT community on campus, as well as a mentor for the CSULB “Students for Quality Education.”
