	Sophia Monat began her professional career in Europe where she danced with the Lille Opera Ballet in France and the National Ballet of Portugal. Following eight years as Ballet Mistress of the New Jersey Ballet, Ms. Monat is currently on the faculty of the California State University, Long Beach department of dance and also serves as Director of the Classical department of dance at the Orange County High School of the Arts. She is also Ballet Mistress of the State Street Ballet in Santa Barbara, CA. Ms. Monat guest teaches extensively and has taught and staged a wide range of classical and contemporary ballets for ballet companies, universities and professional schools throughout the U.S.
