The CSULB Department of Dance creates many opportunities for students and faculty to explore dance and technology.

A 13-station computer lab with both MAC and PC computers is available for students’ technology needs ranging from writing papers to creating dance films.  The computers are installed with current software for professional video and photo editing; music composition, recording and editing; dance notation and graphic design allowing for a wide variety of creative endeavors in the computer lab.  Digital video cameras are available for student and faculty projects.   Full-time technical assistance is available from staff member Gregory R.R. Crosby, a Film, Television and Electronic Arts graduate, whose expertise in computers and film helps facilitate student learning and artistry.

The Martha B. Knoebel Dance Theater is equipped with theater technology that provides additional visual and sound elements in concert choreography by CSULB artists.  Recent concerts have included media integration with film projection, live camera feed and other visual effects. Andrew N. Milhan, Production Manager/Technical Director and Lighting Designer, collaborates with CSULB student and faculty artists to enhance the visual impact of their concert work.

Dance has evolved to incorporate many new tools for the interface of dance and technology.  The CSULB Department of Dance fosters innovative artistic thought to discover the possibilities.
