POST-DOCTORAL POSITION  IN YEAST CELL & MOLECULAR BIOLOGY at CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, LONG BEACH

Molecular Characterization of ENV7:  a previously uncharacterized conserved putative ser/thr kinase involved in vacuolar events.

*NSF-FUNDED, THREE YEAR POSITION, to start immediately

*Through a genomic search, we have uncovered previously uncharacterized genes involved at the late endosome & vacuole interface (ENV genes).  NSF funding is for characterization of ENV7 gene and its product.  Env7p is a previously uncharacterized protein kinase with 30% identity to a human kinase whose function is unknown.  Per reported genomic level studies, Env7p is a membrane anchored palmitoylated protein and the GFP-fusion product is found on the vacuole membrane.

*experience and training in S. cerevisiae genetics and molecular biology is highly desirable.

*CSULB is a masters granting institution w state of the art instrumentation including a proteomics center.  It is located <10 minutes from the beach and <30 minutes from downtown LA, UCLA, AND UCI.
