Research interests: Insect behavioral ecology; plant-insect interactions; the evolution of cooperation, division of labor, and sex ratio; lepidopteran cytogenetics; chromosomal non-disjunction.
Current research: Division of labor in caterpillars of the social butterfly, Eucheira socialis (Pieridae) from Mexico; the mechanisms and evolutionary maintenance of a male-biased primary sex ratio in E. socialis; cytogenetics and digital image analysis of chromosome behavior during meiosis; abnormalities in sperm production in E. socialis.
