POSITION: Graduate Assistant

January 22, 2013 for Spring 2013

QUALIFICATIONS: BA or BS degree in the biological sciences with satisfactory completion of at least 24 units of upper division courses in the biological sciences and enrollment in the Master's degree program in Biology or Microbiology at CSULB. Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

DUTIES: Assist full-time faculty in laboratories, proctor exams in large lecture classes, and assist instructional support technicians in some curatorial duties. Areas include anatomy, physiology, botany, genetics, marine biology, microbiology, zoology, and general education biology. Must maintain satisfactory progress toward degree objective to be considered for reappointment (see note below).

SALARY: Dependent on qualifications, experience, and time base.

NOTE: Graduate students are permitted to be employed as a TA/GA for a total of 6 semesters. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 units (or in GS 700) during each semester employed unless program courses are not available or all course work (except thesis) has been completed. This is university policy–NO EXCEPTIONS.
