Research Interests:

In the CSULB Shark Lab, our mission is to advance our understanding of the ecology of marine fishes, training future marine scientists at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and disseminating our research to resource managers and the general public to improve conservation of marine fishes.  We study the physiological and behavioral ecology of sharks, rays, and other economically important gamefishes.  Some of our recent projects have focused on quantifying the ecological importance of offshore petroleum platforms, improving the design and efficacy of Marine Protected Areas, and quantifying success of local efforts to restore estuarine habitats in southern California.
