2. Review of our campus desktop security:
Steve La stated that no major attacks occurred during the past month. Spyware blocking was very effective and the IDS did its job well.
Update on the Campus Wireless Infrastructure:
The Campus approved the purchase of $20K worth of site survey tools from Air Magnet. Air Magnet creates site survey and safeguard wireless software.
We are working with 5G to make their AP plenum rated. This is a necessary feature because they are to be placed within the ceiling space of some buildings.
Steve La reported that up to 530 users a day are logging on to the Network via Beach-net.

3. Progress report on the current Anti-Spyware development :
The Campus has funded the purchase of Symantec Spyware product. Steve La signed a 2 yr contract with Symantec in anticipation of a better price point becoming available at a later date.

4. Current and future security related projects :
The Campus has approved an $172K purchase of an IDS, Tipping Point. Additionally, the Campus has fully funded the cost of developing an Internal Network Traffic Protection program from Cisco for $250K.
An iSCSI storage system was discussed by Steve La. It is intended to be deployed in the Fall of 05, however, it has not been funded yet.

5. Technical Training:
Scot Woodyard has requisitioned Quick Training Tickets for use by Network Services as well as Technical Coordinators. These tickets are for any security related training through Quickstart. All requests for tickets should be made through Scot.

6. Demonstration of the new Beach-CERT website:
The new Beach-CERT website was introduced to the Beach-CERT members.
