California State Univserity Employee Union (CSUEU), Chapter 315

Our Purpose

The California State University Employees Union (CSUEU), SEIU Local 2579, represents 16,000 health care, operations administrative and technical support staff at the California State University's 23-campuses. CSUEU is affiliated with the Service Employees International Union and the California State Employees Association. (Wikipedia)

The CSEU is an affiliate of California State Employees Association (CSEA). The CSEA was originally made up of four different divisions, each representing a different class of California state employees. Pursuant to CSEA by-laws, each division, over time, voted to incorporate and become independent affiliates of CSEA. Today, CSEA provides centralized support services to the affiliates such as printing and accounting and speaks on behalf of its 140,000 members on issues that affect more than one affiliate.

The CSEA, founded in 1931 in Sacramento, California, is the largest state employee organization in California. It worked to create the first retirement system for California state workers, successfully fought for collective bargaining for state and university employees, and helped to get voter approval of the merit system for state service and gained a 40-hour workweek.
