Call for Papers for the Mini Track
"Adoption and Diffusion of Electronic Commerce"
Although the last couple of years have witnessed an explosive growth in electronic commerce activities in many parts of the world, very little is known about the exact nature, dynamics and impact of this phenomenon. There is a paucity of systematic and rigorous investigations reported in the literature, despite the enormous importance of this phenomenon. This mini track is an attempt to help fill this gap by providing a rigorous forum to draw together important recent developments in this area. The focus of this mini track will be on the antecedents, processes and dynamics relating to the adoption and diffusion of electronic commerce, and the subsequent impact of adoption. Adoption is the process through which organizations or individuals decide to engage in electronic commerce activities. Diffusion is the process through which electronic commerce activities become assimilated into the lives and behaviors of organizations and individuals. A broad perspective of electronic commerce is taken so that it includes not only business-to-business and business-to-consumer electronic commerce activities, but also intra-organizational electronic commerce activities such as workflow and ERP systems and their integration with external electronic commerce systems such as on-line shopping malls.
Topics for this mini track may include (but are not limited to) the following aspects of electronic commerce:
This mini track welcomes papers addressing the above topics using a wide range of research methodologies including conceptual, laboratory experiments, surveys, and case studies, among others. Selected papers will be fast-tracked for publication in the Journal of Global Information Management (JGIM).
