General Guidelines

All submissions must be in English, and should represent the original work of the authors. Each submission is limited to seven pages (approximately 3500 words) in length for a full complete research paper and three pages (approximately 1500 words) for a research-in-progress paper.

Submissions should include the following:

  1. Name, e-mail, mailing address, university/organization affiliation, phone/fax numbers of the contact person for the submission
  2. Name, e-mail, mailing address, university/organization affiliation, of the author(s)
  3. Title of the submission
  4. Category (Organization, Technical, Learning) and Keywords (five words)
  5. An abstract of the submission
  6. The main body of the submission
  7. Rreferences and/or bibliography (in MIS Quarterly format)

All submissions are to be made via e-mail to amcis@csulb.edu. Subject line of the e-mail should indicate the types of proposal. All submissions should be sent as an attachment in MS Word, WordPerfect, PDF, or HTML format. Mini-Track Proposals

Proposals for mini-tracks should be made to the Program Chair at amcis2000@csulb.edu.

Proposals should provide a motivation for the mini-track, a brief overview of the area, sample topics, an estimate of potential submissions, and an assessment of overall appeal to conference attendees.

Mini-Track Proposal should include the following:

    1. Name, e-mail, mailing address, university/organization affiliation, phone/fax numbers of the contact person for the submission
    2. Name, e-mail, mailing address, university/organization affiliation, of the author(s)
    3. Title of the mini track
    4. Category (Organization, Technical, Learning) and Keywords (five words)
    5. A short description of the mini track
    6. Expected number of papers and potential authors
    7. Whether the mini track theme has been offered in the past AIS or other conferences
The deadline for submitting mini-track proposals is January 15th, 2000.
The status of submitted and accepted proposals will also be

Research Papers (Both Full and In-Progress)

Papers for the conference are to be submitted to the appropriate mini-track chairs or to the program chair. If a paper fits within a mini-track, it should be sent to the appropriate Mini-Track Chair. It is understood that submission will be made to a single mini-track only. To select the appropriate mini-track, see the list of accepted mini-tracks and their descriptions at http://www.csulb.edu/conference/ais2000. If an appropriate mini-track is not available, papers should be sent to the Program Chair at amcis2000@csulb.edu. The program chair may forward the submission to a mini-track if he deems it appropriate.

Best Paper Awards

Best Research and Research-In-Progress Papers will be recognized and will receive awards at the conference.

 

Panel Proposals

Panel discussions focus on topics of current interest and importance to the field. Dialogue and debate on controversial issues is especially encouraged. Innovative approaches to dealing with these issues are welcomed.

Proposals should include the following:

    1. Name, e-mail, mailing address, university/organization affiliation, phone/fax numbers of the contact person for the submission
    2. Name, e-mail, mailing address, university/organization affiliation, of the panelists
    3. Title of the submission
    4. The topic, problem, and/or issue(s) to be discussed
    5. Potential discussion questions
    6. A short description of the panel (up to three pages) to be included in the Proceedings
    7. References and/or bibliography (in MIS Quarterly format)

Selection will be based on the topic's merit, appeal, and the effectiveness of panel members in addressing the issues outlined.

Curriculum Development Session Proposals

Professional Development Session Proposals

Tutorial and Workshop Proposals

Tutorials and workshops are a key feature of the AMCIS conference. Tutorials will be allocated an entire session (i.e. an hour and a half). However, proposals for shorter tutorials will also be considered. If more than one and one-half hours are required, half-day workshops could be scheduled for the Thursday preceding the conference (August 10th).

Tutorials and workshops will provide an overview, and detailed application information, about topics such as a research area, a research method, an applied technique, or an emerging technology. Selection will be based on the appropriateness of the tutorial content, value to the IS academic and practitioner community, and the ability of the presenter(s) to deliver the content effectively.

Technology Demonstration Proposals

Innovative briefings and demonstrations of new technologies (i.e., hardware, software, systems, and related methods). AIS colleagues who have developed or used new technologies or who have developed or used new technologies with business organizations are encouraged to submit a proposal.

Proposals should include:

  1. Name, e-mail, mailing address, university/organization affiliation, phone/fax numbers of the contact person for the submission
  2. Name, e-mail, mailing address, university/organization affiliation, of the presenter(s)
  3. Title of the submission
  4. A description of the technology to be discussed and/or demonstrated an outline of what is to be covered
  5. A list of materials to be made available to attendees
  6. A complete list of any resource needs
  7. A short description (up to three pages) to be included in the Proceedings

Selection will be based on the appropriateness of the technology demonstration content, intrinsic appeal to the IS academic and practitioner community, and availability of logistics associated with the effective delivery of the material.
