The College of Engineering at CSULB houses several centers and laboratories for education, research, development and technology transfer. The college also provides services and conduct technology assessment projects and activities for engineering communities through these centers and laboratories.

METRANS joint USC/CSULB center

• The CSULB College of Engineering also supports a joint transportation center with the University of Southern California (USC) called METRANS. METRANS is supported with grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT), the California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS), and local transportation organizations.
