Transportation planning deals with travel
forecasting for vehicular as well as goods movement. It involves
use of available techniques such as the four-step process of trip
generation, trip distribution, mode choice and traffic assignments.
Geographic Informations Systems (GIS) are used in land use and
travel forecasting analyses. Transportation planning also involved
traffic demand modeling.
