Biography Edward M. Twining Sr.

Edward M. Twining, Sr. is Chief Operating Officer of Twining Laboratories of Southern California, Inc. The company specializes in materials testing and inspection for the construction industry. The company was established in 1954 and employs 150 engineers, inspectors and technicians.

Mr. Twining graduated from Oregon State College in 1951 with a bachelor of arts degree. He has been married to Patti, his wife, for 42 years. Their children include Edward Jr., Christopher and Nancy Weinberger. The Twinings have three grandchildren.

Twining Laboratories was started in 1898 in Fresno, California by its founder Dr. Frederick E. Twining. Since this time, the name Twining has been associated with quality and service to many industries in the agricultural, engineering and construction fields.

Started as a branch of the Fresno office, Mr. Twining started The Twining Laboratories in Long Beach in 1954. The Fresno site is still open. It was purchased in 1957 and now operates as the premier Construction Materials, Testing and Inspection Laboratories in Southern California. It still operates under the name of Twining Laboratories of Southern California. The Long Beach site is now the headquarters.

Edward M. Twining Jr., a 20-year veteran of the company, has been the President of Twining Laboratories since 1993. His previous positions include laboratory technician and sales and marketing representative.

Mr. Twining grew up in Huntington Beach and attended California State University, Long Beach from 1979 to 1983. His major emphasis of study was finance and engineering technology.

Prior to college, Mr. Twining served four years in the United States Air Force where he was an electronics and communications instructor.

Mr. Twining is involved in many civic affairs including St. Mary, Hospital, Boys' and Girls' Club of Long Beach, Long Beach Rotary Club. His business affiliations include the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California, the American Concrete Institute (national and local chapters) and the local chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute.

Christopher F. Twining is the Vice President of Twining Laboratories of Southern California, Inc. Mr. Twining was raised in Huntington Beach where he graduated from Marina High School and Arizona State University.

Mr. Twining's civic memberships include the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Long Beach Junior Chamber of Commerce, the American Concrete Institute, and the Board of Trustees at Millers Children's Hospital.
