Academic Disqualification Policy

January 23, 2009

Dear Student:

Starting this year, CSULB will begin implementing a new Academic Disqualification policy, which will greatly affect students whose first semester on academic probation begins in Spring 2009. Students who have the following GPA's at the end of the Spring 2009 semester will be disqualified, as follows:

  • Freshmen (fewer than 30 units completed): GPA = 1.50
  • Sophomores (30-59 units completed): GPA = 1.70
  • Juniors (60-89 unit completed): GPA = 1.85
  • Seniors (90+ units completed): GPA = 1.95

To this end, we encourage these particular students to seek one-on-one counseling with the College of Engineering Recruitment and Retention Center counselors immediately.

Additionally, students who identify with any of the below conditions at the end of Fall 2008 should also contact the College of Engineering Recruitment and Retention Center counselors:

  • On or Approaching Academic Probation (GPA of 2.20 or below)
  • Academically Disqualified Students
  • Student interested in reinstating to CSULB

Students should make an appointment to see one of the two counselors below. Failure to make an appointment may result in a registration hold.

Engineering Counseling Office:

  • Location: EN2-300D
  • Telephone: (562) 985-2729
  • E-mail: coe-counselors@csulb.edu

Important: Please leave your full name, CSULB ID Number, and contact information
