Project 1: Transit Project
Finish and polish a rough casting of the Transit, the organization
insignia.
Additional information on specifications will be provided if the
candidate chooses to do this project. The Transit must be shown to the
faculty members with the signature sheet.
Transit Project Specifications:
Each candidate for membership shall finish and polish a rough casting
of the Transit, the organization insignia. Below is a suggested method
for finishing and polishing the Transit.
1. Use a metal file to smooth out the surfaces and remove any extra
material along the edges.
2. Next, use sandpaper, starting with either medium or fine grid(#200)
and progress toward 320, 400, and 600 grid.
3. You may obtain a mirror like finish by using a metal polish, a
cloth, and a lot of effort. Tools or machines may be used if necessary.
4. Optional- Using a little black enamel paint in the recessed
lettering adds a nice touch.
