Chi Epsilon Candidate Information Packet Spring 2001

Congratulations once again on being invited to join Chi Epsilon. Your outstanding academic records determined your eligibility. Candidates must have a cumulative GPA within the upper one-third of the civil engineering students in their class. One must also be of junior, senior, or graduate class standing. You have met one of the fundamental requirements for membership. To be officially admitted to membership, you must complete the pledge process.

This packet was prepared to guide you in the pledge process. If you have any questions about the content herein, please feel free to ask one of the officers. We have all been through the process, so we know what you are going through and will be glad to help. A list of officers' phone numbers has been attached on the last page in case you need to reach us.

You have already shown that you possess the quality of Scholarship. A Chi Epsilon member should also possess the qualities of Character, Sociability, and Practicality, all of which form the foundations of our society. You must show an interest in Chi Epsilon's history, constitution, and purpose, for the knowledge of them will be tested on the candidate interview.

Sociability is an essential trait, especially in Civil Engineering, which Chi Epsilon tries to encourage. Candidates should attend meetings and have a willingness to help with the functions of Chi Epsilon, ASCE, SEAOSC, and ITE. Each candidate is expected to earn a minimum of 10 participation points by being involved with social events prepared by Chi Epsilon.

Membership in Chi Epsilon is a mark of excellence, readily recognized by others, including graduate schools and future employers. We hope that you decide to complete the pledge process and look forward to having you as a member of Chi Epsilon!
