Dr. Panadda
(Nim) Marayong is an assistant professor and the director of
the Robotics and Interactive Systems Engineering (RISE) Laboratory
in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at
California State University, Long Beach. She received
her B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, with highest honors,
from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2001, and a M.S.
and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in the area of robotics
from Johns Hopkins University in 2007. While at Johns
Hopkins, she was part of the NSF Engineering Research Center
for Computer Integrated Surgical Systems and Technology and
was a member of the Haptic Exploration Laboratory under the
advisement of Dr. Allison M. Okamura.
Dr. Marayong's main research interests lie in the areas of robotics,
human-machine collaborative systems, and haptics. she is dedicated
to teaching and is also actively involved in numerous educational
outreach programs to promote interest in and diversity of participation
in science and engineering. She is a member of ASME, IEEE, IEEE-Robotics
and Automation Society, Tau Beta Pi, and Phi Eta Sigma.
