Profile:

Dr. Mihir K. Das is currently a Professor Emeritus of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at CSULB. He joined the FERP (Faculty Early Retirement Program) in 2008 after serving the the University over 27 years. As a FERP faculty now Dr. Das teaches in the Spring semester only.

Dr. Das is a popular teacher. He loves interacting with students both face-to-face and in cyberspace. He has taught at all levels: Undergraduate, Master's and Doctoral. He was instrumental in introducing CAD in the College of Engineering during his tenure as Associate Dean for Instruction. He still teaches that subject (MAE 172) along with Mechanics of Materials (MAE 373). His expertise also includes Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering Management, Quality & Continuous Process Improvement, and On-line Education.

He holds the record of being the longest serving Engineering Associate Dean at CSULB. He is credited with developing the pioneering Ph.D. program in Engineering and Industrial Mathematics jointly with the Claremont University. He also developed and directed an innovative pilot program for 5 years called the Online MSEM (Master of Science in Engineering Management) with students in many part of the world.

Dr. Das has over 100 research and technical publications to his credit, two books and three international patents. He is an active consultant and has also worked for the prestigious companies like Boeing, Xerox, Northop Grumman and Rolls-Royce.

He is widely traveled and has delivered invited lectures in Belgium, China, Columbia, France, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Poland, Puerto Rico, Singapore, U.K., Venezuela and West Indies.
