Six (6) $3,000 scholarships/fellowships for Spring & Summer 2009 (approx. mid-March to end of June)

Projects
The CALVEIN team is in final preparations for conducting a flight test of its advanced aerospike rocket engine. Recipients of the scholarships/fellowships will participate in this and other CALVEIN activities. Specific areas where the recipients are expected to take a lead role include (pre- and post-flight):
Vehicle operations management
Propulsion system integration
Avionics and electrical integration
Configuration management, payload management (in collaboration with UMaine), & field operations
Engine and vehicle performance and trajectory analyses; includes water flow testing
Data analysis using Labview and associated processing tools: propulsion and trajectory
Qualifications
Enrolled CSULB undergraduate or graduate student
Major in Engineering (CECS, Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, etc.), Math or Sciences
Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. Resident (federal funds)
Terms
Acceptance of the scholarship supposes taking a leading role in a project for a period equivalent to approx. 12 weeks half time - Schedule to be arranged and technical details to be defined, approx. March through June - Contact Prof. Besnard for project details
