Combustion I (3) Prerequisites: MAE 336, 431. Fundamentals of combustion engineering: fuels; chemical thermodynamics and chemical kinetics; premixed and diffusion flames; ignition and extinction; Hugoniot curves; flammability and explosion limits; pollutant formation and control; applications in spark-, and charged-ignition internal combustion engines; gas-fired and oil-fired furnaces. (Lecture-Problems 3 hours) Letter grade only (A-F).
