Engineering Technology Program Goals
The Engineering Technology (ET) Programs at CSULB serve society by graduating well-prepared
professionals, who are provided with an excellent education in the fundamentals of Engineering
Technology through a combination of theory and laboratory practice, and who are able to apply
their knowledge and transform their ideas into working systems. The goals of these ET programs
are achieved through a number of educational objectives by the faculty participating in these programs:
- Preparing students to commit to life-long learning, continuing self-development and the ethical practice of Engineering Technology.
- Providing well-designed curricula, that meet the industry needs.
- Providing students with a solid foundation on a broad range of engineering technology areas, that are required of a professional technologist entering the workforce.
- Training students in analysis, applications and hands-on laboratory work.
- Providing students with opportunities to enhance their communication skills by means of writing reports, oral presentations and teamwork.
- Providing modern and well–equipped instructional laboratories.

New Procedure for Computer Science & Computer Engineering Undergraduate Advising:
- All students are asked to see Daniel Gould for all advising matters regarding your major.
He will advice on matters regarding general education courses, transferability of classes,
class schedule set-up, completing/updating program planners (which will need final approval
and be signed-off by the appropriate undergraduate advisor), or probationary counseling
- Daniel Gould will refer you to either undergraduate advisor if needed
- You may see one of the undergraduate advisors directly if you a seeking career advisement,
or advise in selection of upper division CECS classes. Note:
- Dr. Johnson will advise Computer Engineering majors only
- Dr. Monge will advise Computer Science majors only
