CECS Undergraduate Degree Programs

Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering

(code CECSBS02) (128 units)

Description

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering degree program has a two-part objective. The first is to provide students with a strong background in mathematics, physics, and engineering science. The curriculum includes courses in digital systems, embedded systems, integrated circuits design, including operating systems and software engineering. The second objective is to provide students with the skills necessary to be effective contributors in a quality-oriented, customer-focused environment. Courses throughout the program, especially those in the junior and senior years, emphasize an open-ended, design-oriented approach to solving engineering problems. Teamwork, communication skills, and an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving are integrated into the senior, computer engineering design courses.

New Procedure for Computer Science & Computer Engineering Undergraduate Advising:

  1. All students are asked to see Daniel Gould for all advising matters regarding your major. He will advice on matters regarding general education courses, transferability of classes, class schedule set-up, completing/updating program planners (which will need final approval and be signed-off by the appropriate undergraduate advisor), or probationary counseling
  2. Daniel Gould will refer you to either undergraduate advisor if needed
  3. You may see one of the undergraduate advisors directly if you a seeking career advisement, or advise in selection of upper division CECS classes. Note:
    • Dr. Johnson will advise Computer Engineering majors only
    • Dr. Monge will advise Computer Science majors only
