Get a Masters Degree The CECS department offers a Master of Science in Computer Science. There are two options to chose from, Master Degrees Master of Science in Computer Science Option in Computer Science Option in Computer Engineering Option in Computer Engineering offers advanced study in the theory, analysis, design and applications of both computer hardware and software. Option in Computer Science offers advanced study in software development and engineering, networking, operating systems, distributed computing, artificial intelligence, and analysis of algorithms. Admission Procedures To be considered for admission the graduate applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, have been in good standing at the last institution attended, and have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.7 for the last 60 semester units (90 quarter units) attempted. The general Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required. There is no separate department application, but applicants should submit a second set of transcripts to the department. Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Mathematics jointly with The Claremont Graduate University This program is offered jointly by the College of Engineering at California State University, Long Beach and The Claremont Graduate University, allows students to pursue doctoral programs in most areas of engineering and applied mathematics.	Quality and Convenience The department offers graduate study leading to the Master of Science degree in computer science. Moreover, our Masters program is tailored for working professionals, in that most courses are offered in the evening and provide a balance between theory and practice. In the Department of CECS we take pride in offering the most relevant and up-to-date curriculum to meet the demands of the rapidly changing world of computing. The courses we offer include software engineering, networks, web design, game programming, modeling and simulation, computer architecture, artificial intelligence, and computer graphics. Upon securing an advisor, students also have the option of writing a masters thesis in the form of a documented research project. Recent projects have come from the areas such as virtual agents, data mining, software quality assurance, evolutionary algorithms, neural networks, and distributed web computing.
