Dr. Ali R. Nowroozi is an assistant professor of Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering Management, California State University of Long Beach. Prior to joining CSULB, Dr. Nowroozi was managing and operating his own consulting business and concurrently teaching as a part-time lecturer at the University of Southern California and at the California State University of Long Beach. He was also a full-time lecturer at the California State University of Northridge from 2003 to 2004.
Dr. Nowroozi has provided management consulting services to several private and public agencies, focusing on performance improvement modeling using statistical quality control techniques and developing streamlined management processes. During 2002-2003, Dr. Nowroozi was a key member of the Multi-Agency CIP Benchmarking study which involved seven of the largest municipalities within the state of California.
Dr. Nowroozi's areas of research interest include: Computer simulation of a wide range of engineering problems from goods transportation to fluid flow in fractured media; Development of management models and tools, particularly using modern sciences (such as Fractal Geometry and Neural Networks).
Dr. Nowroozi also has several years of experience in heavy civil construction. He has been involved in various aspects of hydro-power construction and assumed a diverse range of responsibilities, from estimating and scheduling to project and organizational management and total quality framework implementation.
