Important Steps to Graduation

1.      Get the University Catalog

• Use catalog year that you declare your major, or that you graduate

• See “General Regulations and Procedures”

• Catalog is your CONTRACT with the university

2.      Tests:

• EPT (English Placement Test) prior to enrollment @ CSULB

• ELM (Entry-Level Mathematics) EXAM prior to enrollment @ CSULB

• Chemistry Placement Test required for CHEM 111A (unless passed CHEM 101 @ CSULB)

3.      Advising & GE Pattern

• Advising is MANDATORY for First Time Freshmen prior to registration for 2^nd semester

4.      Pass the WPE (Writing Proficiency Examination) before completing 75 units.  Supplemental instruction is available (see the Catalog).

5.      File a Request to Graduate with the Office of Enrollment Services

• For Spring or Summer candidates:            by the preceding October 1
• For Fall Candidates:                                 by the preceding March1

6.      Requirements for Graduation:

• Completion of all major required courses

• Completion of a minimum of (currently) 133 units (for previous curriculi, consult your appropriate catalog), including at least 40 upper-division units

• All upper division classes must be taken within 10 years of graduation date

• A minimum of 2.0 GPA for all CSULB classes and all major courses. A grade of “C” or better must be received in all prerequisites for AE courses

• Formal approval by the faculty
