Mammals: In Black and White

Stripes explained! As children we are taught to recognize skunks and zebras by their distinctive stripes. But until recently, biologists have had little idea why certain animals have such contrasting black and white coloration. Professors Stankowich and Caro will talk about the evolutionary forces behind coloration in mammals and share some of their exciting findings, recently covered in the publications Evolution, Nature, National Geographic, Discover and even on Saturday Night Live!

Presenters: Professor Theodore Stankowich and Professor Tim Caro
Date: Thursday, November 6th 2014
