Rescheduled Guest Speaker on Farmyard Choreographies in Early Modern England

Fudge FlyerThe Program in American Studies, Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, and the Departments of History and English invite you to a talk by Dr. Erica Fudge of the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow on “Farmyard Choreographies in Early Modern England”. Erica Fudge is a major scholar in the field of animal studies, author of many academic and popular press books, including a great overview of the “animal turn” called “Animal” in the Reaktion Books “Focus on Contemporary Issues” series.

Dr. Fudge is the Author of:

  • Brutal Reasoning: Animals, Rationality, and Humanity in Early Modern England
  • Renaissance Beasts: Of Animals, Humans and Other Wonderful Creatures, Animal, and Pets
  • other important works in Animal Studies and Renaissance Studies

Erica will be speaking on her new work, Farmyard Choreographies in Early Modern England.  A discussion about the challenges and benefits of centering scholarly inquiry on the material and cultural contributions of nonhuman animals will follow. This event is free, supported by a CLA Scholarly Intersections Grant, and open for anyone wishing to attend.
