Nation Building in 19th Century Latin America and Women Writers Series: Guest Lecture — Dr.Francesca Denegri

The Spanish Graduate Student Association (SGSA) and the Department of Romance, German, Russian Languages & Literatures (RGRLL) welcome Dr.Francesca Denegri of Pontificia Católica Universidad del Perú (UCLA, Visiting Professor). She is the second of three guest speakers in the series Nation Building in 19th Century Latin America and Women Writers. This lecture series is linked to Spanish 442/542. Dr.Francesca Denegri’s lecture is titled “Who is Afraid of Juan Yupanqui? Clorinda Matto de Turner and Racial Politics in ‘El Perú Ilustrado.'”

The third speaker in the series is Dr. Pura Fernández, Research Professor in the Institute of Language, Literature, and Anthropology of the Center for the Humanities and Social Sciences at Spain’s National Research Council (CSIC). Her lecture is titled “Diálogos transatlánticos: redes culturales de escritoras españolas y latinoamericanas en el siglo XIX.” This event will take place in AS 384 on March 21, 2013, from 5:15-6:30 p.m.
