CSULB Welcomes the White Rose Exhibition

November 4, 2012

About the Exhibition

The exhibition displays the individuals and activities of the White Rose, a student resistance group against the dictatorship of Nazi Germany. Demanding an end to war, the White Rose actively fought against the oppression of civil liberties and the persecution of Jews. After being uncovered, the core members, six young students and one professor, were executed by the NS terror regime while others were jailed with long-term prison sentences. The resistance group produced and distributed a total of six leaflets calling for resistance against the regime. The sixth leaflet, known as the “Manifesto of the Students of Munich,” was airdropped over Germany in June 1943 by Allied planes.

The White Rose Exhibition  will remain on display in the third floor lobby of the Academic Services (AS) building until November 20, 2012. Click here for more information about the event.

Objectives

Above all, the White Rose Foundation wants to get in touch with students in order to maintain the legacy of the White Rose. It wants to remind today’s youth of the important fight for human rights as well as the courage of the White Rose members to stand up against a brutal dictatorship. The White Rose Foundation bases its activities in contact with contemporary witnesses and its research and cooperation with historical research institutions.
