The Jewish Studies Program, in conjunction with the History Project and the California History and Social Science Program at CSULB is in search of funding for the Teacher Workshop on the Holocaust. This one-week workshop features talks by noted Holocaust historians, presentations by teacher leaders, and many high-quality classroom resources focused on the history of the Holocaust. The workshop will provide high school teachers with information about the historical context and the major events of the Holocaust so that they in turn may teach high school students to be more tolerant and responsible citizens. The workshops are partially funded and are in need of gifts to endow them in perpetuity.
The George L. Graziadio Center for Italian Studies is in search of funding to complete an endowed lectureship that will honor Frank De Santis, one of Southern California’s most prestigious Italian citizens. This lecture will be an annual event that will draw upon the wealth of contributions that Italians and Italian-Americans have made to humanity. It will provide a venue for members of our community to come together on campus to share the best things about Italy – great food, great conversation and interesting topics. Gifts to this endowment will help the Center create connections between the excellent student activities on campus and the wider Italian and Italian-American communities. It will allow the Center to create internship opportunities, bring engaging speakers to campus, and showcase CSULB students.
The Frank Gossette scholarship is being established to honor the life-long work and commitment of Dr. Frank Gossette to the academic and professional advancement of the CSULB Geography undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Gossette is best known at CSULB for his contributions to the Department’s growing geospatial technologies courses and research. He also played on ongoing and active role in basic and applied research that included both undergraduate and graduate students. Once established, the award would sponsor student research costs associated with either their undergraduate coursework or graduate thesis project.
The purpose of the Faculty-Student Collaborative Research Endowment is to support faculty-student collaborative research projects in perpetuity. By stabilizing funding, faculty-student collaborative research will become a College priority for generations.
The Endowment will make financial awards to projects according to the following criteria:
The current Endowment will be able to provide enhanced funding to three to five faculty-student projects per year. With your help, as many as ten to fifteen projects a year can be supported.
Other needs include student scholarships, study abroad support, faculty research support, equipment upgrades and unrestricted support to help defray a wide range of College expenses.
