The 2007 Distinguished Alumni for the College of Liberal Arts are Paul Turner and Jan Burke. These two accomplished alumni were selected based upon their individual level of excellence each has achieved in their professional lives. Justice Paul Turner has been appointed to both the Los Angeles Municipal Court as well as the Los Angeles Superior Court. He has represented clients on notable cases such as People v. Barraza and In re Deborah C., both of which altered the existing legal parameters of that time. Meanwhile, Jan Burke is an award winning and USA Today national bestselling author of 12 novels each published by Simon & Schuster. Amongst her critics, her work is described as being a “literary triumph.”
