Community Advisory Board

Pat Kennedy has been the Executive Director of Greater Long Beach Interfaith Community Organization (http://www.greaterlongbeachico.org/ ) since 2000 and an organizer in the PICO National Network since 1988. Originally from Southern California, Pat started organizing in Seattle as a VISTA Volunteer in 1978. Pat received a BA from Occidental College and a MA in Social Environmental Psychology from Claremont Graduate School.

Angelo Logan was born and raised in the South East Los Angeles area and co-founder and Co-Director of East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice (EYCEJ) ( http://eycej.org/ ). EYCEJ addresses Environmental Health and Justice issues as they relate to goods movement, cumulative impacts and livable communities in Southern California. Angelo Logan currently serves on South Coast Air Quality Management District’s Local Government Small Business as well as Environmental Justice Advisory Committee, the I-710 EIR/EIS – Corridor Advisory Committee, Southern California Association of Governments-Goods Movement Task Force, City of Commerce – Environmental Justice Task Force and is Co-Chair of the Los Angeles Port Working Group. Angelo Logan is an AQMD 2002 Clean Air Award Recipient.

Dr. Elisa Nicholas has served as the CEO of The Children’s Clinic ( http://www.thechildrensclinic.org/ ), “Serving Children and Their Families” (TCC) for over 23 years. In addition to her role as CEO of TCC, Dr. Nicholas is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UC Irvine, Project Director and founding member for the Long Beach Alliance for Children with Asthma (LBACA), the American Academy of Pediatrics CATCH (Community Access to Child Health) District Co-Facilitator, a member of the Community Advisory Board for the National Children’s Study of Los Angeles-Ventura Study Center and a board member for Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County (CCALAC). Dr. Nicholas is a graduate of the UCLA School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency training at the Yale University School of Medicine/New Haven Hospital and was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the UCLA School of Medicine. She completed her Masters of Science in Public Health and a preventive medicine residency at UCLA.

Alex J. Norman, D.S.W., Professor Emeritus of Social Welfare, UCLA School of Public Affairs. Currently an Independent Consultant/Facilitator/Researcher in Organizational Development/Transformation and Strategic Planning. Co-founder of ReThinking Greater Long Beach (http://www.rethinklongbeach.org/) , a community-based think tank, and member of the Board of Trustees Long Beach Community Foundation, Josephine S. Gumbiner Foundation and Long Beach Community Action Partnership.
