NASA University Research Center Human Factors Graduate Scholarship
Scholarships will be awarded every academic year, with the total number of scholarships awarded determined by the number of qualified students and the availability of funds provided by a NASA grant. Students may apply and earn the award for more than one academic year, although preference will be given to qualified students who have not received the scholarship previously.

- Students must write a 1-3 page Statement addressing the following:
1. Interest and plans for a human factors’ career.
2. Interests in Air Traffic Management (ATM) and aviation human factors.
3. Initial award: Statement of research goals and proposed program of study.
Although the initial award may be made for the entire academic year,
funding for the second semester is contingent upon the student making
good progress in their coursework and actively participating in the
Human Factors program. At the end of the first semester, students must
turn in a report of work accomplished to the committee along with a
detailed proposal for research in the area of ATM or aviation human
factors during the award period.

- First-year graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0
in the last 30 units of his or her undergraduate program.*
- Second-year graduate students must have a GPA of at least
3.0 in graduate-level courses. *
- All awardees must be enrolled in at least 6 units of graduate-level
coursework during the award period.
- Awardees must be U.S. citizens.

As part of the award, students will be expected to spend about 5-10 hours per week in the Center for Human factors in Advanced Aeronautic Technologies (CHAAT). In the second semester of the award period, the student will be expected to complete a project by the end of the semester. At the end of the first-semester award period, a report of the work accomplished must be submitted to the MS-HF Committee. Failure to submit a report may result in the scholarship being discontinued. At the end of the second award period, an APA Style report of the research project is required.
