Research: Dr. Ahrens specializes in understanding, preventing, and intervening in violence against women.Integrating both research and practice, Dr. Ahrens seeks to understand how, when, and why survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence tell other people about their experiences, how other people react to such disclosures, and how these interactions affect survivors’ health and well-being. This information is then used to help develop and evaluate community based intervention and prevention programs aimed at supporting survivors.
