DEGREE REQUIREMENTS- POLITICAL SCIENCE (major code- POSCBA01)

Political Science POSC 100 and POSC 300 are required

 

Concentration Requirement: 6 Courses (18 units)

Take eighteen units in one of the three areas of concentration: (1) Law, Politics and Policy; or (2) Political Theory; or (3) Global Politics.  Three lower-division units and fifteen upper-division units must be taken in the chosen area of concentration, including the senior seminar in that area.

 

Breadth Requirement:   5 Courses (15 Units) Fifteen units, no more than six of which may be from your area of concentration; no more than three of which may be lower-division.  Must include at least three units of a practicum.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • POSC 100, the 200-level concentration requirement, and POSC 300 must be completed by the end of the junior year.
  • Students CAN use courses from the General area (#4 above) to fulfill their Breadth Requirement but NOT their Concentration requirement.
  • Do not take POSC 391 if you have credit for POSC 100 at CSULB or if you have fulfilled the General Education category D2b (U.S. Constitution and Ideals).
  • POSC 323 meets the General Education Human Diversity requirements and applies toward major requirements.
  • POSC 388I, 395I, 461I, and 494I meet the General Education Interdisciplinary Course requirement and apply toward the major requirements
