PART-TIME LECTURER OPENINGS

 

California State University, Long Beach, is a large comprehensive university with a student body exceeding 34,000 and 1,900 full and part-time faculty, offering 85 baccalaureate and 67 master's degrees in the liberal arts, applied and professional fields. Unless stated otherwise, part-time lecturer appointments are for one semester.

 

POSITION: Part-Time Lecturer in Political Science

EFFECTIVE DATE:       August 25, 2008 - Fall Semester;  January 23, 2009 - Spring Semester

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In Political Science or related discipline, an ABD (toward Ph.D.) with progress toward completion of dissertation required or a Bachelor’s and Master’s with extensive leadership experience in the proposed area of teaching.  Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:   Preference will be given to those whose education and teaching experience best qualify them for the particular courses to be staffed.

DUTIES: Teach up to a maximum of 12 units of undergraduate or graduate courses in a variety of subfields in Political Science.

SALARY: Commensurate with training and experience.  Probable range for one 3-unit course, $724-812 in six monthly installments.
