Daugherty is a professor of public relations and journalism at Cal State Long Beach, where she has taught since 1990.
She is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America and was awarded the "2001 Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Public Relations Profession and to the Community" by the Orange County Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
Professor Daugherty has authored several articles in scholarly publications and presented numerous papers at national conferences on issues of social responsibility, the assessment of learning outcomes and experiential-learning pedagogy.
Prior to joining the faculty at CSULB, Professor Daugherty taught at Fullerton State University; Chapman University in Orange, Calif.; Michigan State University; and Carlow College in Pittsburgh.
She also has 10 years of professional experience in nonprofit and agency public relations. Professor Daugherty received her bachelor's degree in public relations from West Virginia University and master's in advertising from Michigan State University.
