Ron Milligan’s career in the years before he began teaching in the California State University system in 1986, had taken him across all three media, television, radio and print.
As a broadcast journalist he worked as a national network television and radio correspondent at ABC and for nearly three years as a war correspondent covering Vietnam for Group W Westinghouse Broadcasting Company. At the local level, he worked for WTIC-TV-AM-FM, a large television and radio station in the Northeast. As a print journalist, Milligan worked as a foreign correspondent for the Reuters and United Press International bureaus in Madrid, Spain, and as managing editor of the English language magazines Guidepost and later Tab, serving the large American and British communities in Spain at the time.
He worked in print before going overseas at the Las Vegas Sun as a general assignment and police reporter and at a different time as sports editor. He also worked at the Daily Breeze in Torrance, California, as a copy editor.
