Robin Jones
A 10-year veteran of the magazine industry, Robin Jones started teaching the Introduction to News Editing class in 2010. Before joining the journalism faculty, she worked for Westways magazine, the member publication for the Auto Club of Southern California, as a copy editor, features editor, and finally managing editor. There, she edited and wrote stories about travel, food, auto culture, and the Southern California lifestyle.
Robin started her own communications business in 2010. These days, she writes and edits for corporate and government clients, including the CSU Office of the Chancellor, the Port of Long Beach, and Robert Half International. She also writes about food, travel and Southern California culture for Sunset and Westways, covers parenting trends for Parents magazine, and serves as a contributing editor for Orange Coast magazine.
Robin holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri, with a concentration in magazine publishing, and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley, where she served as sports editor for the Daily Californian. She previously taught food journalism to aspiring chefs at a culinary institute in Costa Mesa.
