Jennifer Fleming

Jennifer Fleming is an associate professor in the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication at California State University, Long Beach. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Simon Fraser University (Canada), a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Western Ontario (Canada), and a doctorate in education from the University of California Los Angeles.
Jennifer’s teaching and research interests are mainly in the areas of journalism education, media literacy, news literacy, and television news. She has authored several articles and presented numerous papers at academic conferences on these subjects. Jennifer has been actively involved in the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and the Broadcast Education Association (BEA). She is also a member of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE), and Radio and Television News Association of Southern California (RTNA).
Before joining the CSULB faculty, Jennifer worked at CTV, Canada’s largest private broadcaster. At CTV National News, she contributed as a writer and producer to the country’s most watched news and current affairs programs, CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson and Canada AM.
