Amara Aguilar

Amara AguilarAmara Aguilar teaches online journalism and design classes at Cal State Long Beach. She has written for the Los Angeles Times and was previously a designer and sports reporter for the Daily Pilot in Costa Mesa. She also has worked in public relations, advertising, online journalism and web design.

Amara has her master's degree in communications from Cal State Fullerton, with an emphasis in new media. She is currently writing a textbook on online journalism and has done extensive research on blogging and journalism.

In addition, Amara is a member of the Society of Newspaper Design, Online News Association and Society of Professional Journalists. She is also the magazine adviser at Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA and is involved with the Journalism Association of Community Colleges.
