Greg Hardesty was born and raised in Southern California, where he earned a bacherlor's degree in English Literature from UC Irvine. Since then, he has worked as a journalist and, part time, as a teacher.
Outside of college, he started his career as a reporter and editor for business lifestyle monthlies in Orange County. After four years, he moved to Tokyo, Japan to teach English for a year. He ended up staying five more years as a copy editor for the English-language daily, the Japan Times. After spending six years in Japan, Greg returned to Southern California in 1995.
Greg then worked as a page designer and copy editor for the Glendale
News-Press and The Daily Pilot (Newport Beach) before joining the Orange
County Register in 1997, as a business reporter. He has covered courts and
currently is a general assignment reporter for the OC Register.
Greg has been teaching journalism classes at Cal State Long Beach for three
years and also has taught at Cal State Fullerton. His specialty is feature writing.
Outside the classroom, Greg enjoys running ultra-marathons and spending
time with his two children.
