On Nov. 12, 2010, as part of its Alumni Event, the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication organized a series of workshops that brought local professionals from the areas of print journalism, broadcast journalism, public relations, and visual communication (design and photojournalism) to campus, to evaluate and offer input to students' portfolios. The Department of Journalism celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Daily 49er by organizing two successful and well attended events on Nov. 13--an open house in the 49er newsroom and a small celebration gathering in the Pyramid Annex. On Oct. 27, 2009, KTLA Morning News Co-Anchor Michaela Pereira came to CSULB to talk to students. For an hour and a half, Pereira told students about her career, followed by a Q&A from students.
